Rik van Iersel was born in Maastricht, the Netherlands in 1961 and currently lives and works in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Rik van Iersel is a self-thaught or autodidact painter, graphic designer and musician. From 1979 till 1983 he started out as a graphic designer for youth -and music centre de Effenaar in Eindhoven and since 1978 he plays in bands as Starling - Der Junge Hund - La Majeur Pipe au Bois - Simulated Wood - LieberThee - Senga Etna and many more Freemusic and other projects like Add Instant Life in MU Eindhoven and Transparency Wolk in Venlo. Since 1998 he did several video- and DVD projects and presentations. In 1998 and 2004 he was guest professor at the Fachhochschule fur gestaltung in Hamburg, Germany. In 2007 he initiated the Beukorkest together with the Dutch band Stuurbaard Bakkebaard.
Since 1982 Rik van Iersel regularly participated in exhibitions in the Netherlands, Germany, America and many other countrie in the world and he worked together with almost all the major galleries in the Netherlands and Germany.
